Nightclubs are Back! Here’s Everything You Need for that First Night Out

The world is finally opening up and that means that nightclubs are once again opening their doors to partygoers, inviting them to enjoy their first nights out in almost 18 months. That means the drinks will be flowing, the dancefloor will be vibrant and, most likely, the hangovers will be heavy!

You might be a little out of practice, and understandably, as you haven’t been able to paint the town red for so long. There is also the chance that you have no prior experience of sampling the nightlife as the pandemic-enforced lockdowns took away your chance of celebrating your passage into adulthood.

Whether you haven’t been on a night out for a long time, or you are popping your cherry, here is everything that you need for that all-important first night out on the tiles!

ID

The last thing you want to happen is to be turned away at the door because security says you are too young. A babyface has many positives, but this isn’t one of them. Make sure you have a valid picture ID on your people, such as a driver’s license or passport, before leaving. If you do, it may just be an early night for you while the rest of your party goes on ahead and has the time of their life. No one wants FOMO (fear of missing out), so double and triple-check beforehand.

A Good Meal

If the drinks are going to be flowing, and there is a distinct possibility that shots may be brought over to the table, then you need to line your stomach with food beforehand. Drinking on an empty stomach is a recipe for disaster and will result in either an early night, an embarrassing story, or even worse. Eat a good meal before hitting the club, giving the alcohol something to soak into when you are living it up. We also recommend drinking water at regular intervals throughout the night, as this will help to alleviate symptoms, as well as your hangover the morning after.

Fashion

You want to look at the business, right? You don’t want to be rocking any out-of-date fashion, especially on your first night out in so long. Take note of the latest fashion trends and find what works for you – whether that be a designer t-shirt, a cool jacket, or a new pair of shoes. If you are unsure about any of your new garms, bring a friend for a second opinion – make sure they are willing to tell you what looks good and, more importantly, what doesn’t!

A Ride Back

Before leaving for a night out, you should always know how you are getting back that night, especially if you plan on staying out until the small hours of the morning. Whether you are out partying in familiar territory, or you are out in a city that you don’t know too well, always make sure you have at least a couple of different options to get yourself back. Designated drivers, money for a taxi, or a pre-arranged lift back home are just some of your possibilities.

Good Company

Last, but certainly by no means least, in good company! A great club, DJ, and tunes are the makings of a great night out, but great friends around you are the most important part of the night. Even the worst club in town can be made bearable with good company around you, while a bad company can dampen even the best bar.

That’s our night out checklist and, so long as you can place a tick next to all of the above, your first post-lockdown night on the tiles promises to be a memorable one!
